Managing Subcontractors on the Davis County Emergency Operations Center

Davis County Emergency Operations Center (Under Construction)

The Davis County Emergency Operations Center offers a place for emergency responders to gather and strategize on how to move forward during an emergency. The first facility of its kind in Davis County, the center will also serve as overflow for other EOCs in different counties as needed, allowing further support across county lines.

Meeting High Quality Standards

Our superintendent, Ryan Greenfield, was our first line of defense in ensuring that our subcontractor's work was of high quality. By walking the site regularly and being cognizant of what the final product was supposed to look like, Ryan was able to identify any on-site problems and mitigate them quickly and efficiently.

Ryan became aware that the contractor responsible for the building's exterior finishes was falling behind and installing the masonry veneer to unsatisfactory standards. Ryan addressed the schedule impact with the contractor and made them aware that Hogan would supplement the work if they were not able to get back on schedule promptly.

After these issues were brought to the owner, project manager, and architect, it was decided to switch installation crews and add more masons to get the project back on track, while also removing the unsatisfactory work and reinstalling it. As each lift was reinstalled, the owner, architect, and Hogan inspected it to ensure it met high standards.

Despite these issues, Hogan finished the project on time and within budget thanks to the team's resourcefulness and effective communication.
